Former world record holder Asafa Powell could participate in next year's Stawell Gift in Victoria, Australia.
Gift spokesman David Culbert has confirmed that negotiations had already begun to have Powell take part in Australia's richest footrace.
Powell almost made it to Stawell this year but had to cancel when a member of his support team was seriously hurt in a car accident.
Over recent years, the Gift has attracted a number of international stars, including Olympic gold medallist Linford Christie, but Powell's presence would be massive boost for the race's 130th anniversary.
