National under-20 coach Wendell Downswell says preparation for the second phase of the Caribbean Football Union under 20 men's World Cup qualifiers has been less than ideal.
The 18-man squad is set to depart the island on Monday for Guyana to face hosts Grenada and the US Virgin Islands.
But although confident of advancing to the next round, coach Downswell says preparations could have been better.
Meanwhile, one notable absentee from Jamaica's 18-man squad is 18-year-old former St. Georges stand out Marvin Morgan.
Coach Downswell tried to explain his absence.
“He had some problems with some travel documents. He had sent his documents abroad regarding some contractual arrangements and that has not been sorted out as yet but as soon as that is sorted out we will have him,” he said.
The young Jamaicans will open their account against Grenada on Wednesday October 6, they then play the US Virgin Islands on Friday before completing their fixtures against host, Guyana on Sunday.
The winner of the group will qualify for the CONCACAF under 20 finals in Guatemala set for April 13 to 17.
