'Red Brigade' upset Tivoli to boost RSPL survival hopes

Boys’ Town boosted their chances of survival with a crucial victory over Tivoli Gardens on Sunday in the Red Stripe Premier League.

Top marksman Shamar Nicholson scored his 13th goal of the season as the ‘Red Brigade’ clipped Tivoli 1-0 to move up to 32 points, two behind seventh and eighth placed Reno and Harbour View and four points clear of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Jamalco remain in the relegation zone despite upsetting Arnett Gardens with a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Arnett Gardens at the Effortville Community Centre.

Tevin Garnett and Roshane Sharpe from the penalty spot in injury time got the goals for the Clarendon-based team. The win lifted Jamalco to 29 points but they remain in the drop zone, just a point above Maverley Hughenden.

Meanwhile, Harbour View escaped with a 1-1 draw away to Portmore United courtesy of Ranique Muir goal at the Spanish Town Prison Oval. Ewan Grandison put Portmore ahead before Muir equalised six minutes from time.

In the late kick off at Drewsland, hosts Waterhouse surprised defending champions Montego Bay United 2-0 with goals from Kemar Beckford and Irvino English.
