Jamaica's Reggae Girlz have suffered a setback in their bid for direct qualification to next year's Olympic Games in Paris after going down 2-0 Canada in their first leg qualifier at the National Stadium on Friday night.
Nichelle Prince opened the scoring for the Canadians in the 18th minute, while Andriana Leon doubled their advantage in second half stoppage time.
The Jamaicans created a few scoring opportunities, while goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer prevented the Canadians from winning by a wider margin with a few timely saves and interceptions. The return fixture is set for Tuesday at the BMO Field in Toronto.
The winner of the tie on aggregate will represent CONCACAF at next summer's Olympic Games alongside the United States and will also automatically qualify for the inaugural CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup which takes place in the United States between February 17 and March 10 of next year.
The games' loser will drop into a Gold Cup qualifying group which includes Panama and Guatemala.
