Reid and Card headline Jamaica's team for World U20 Championships

Olympic sprint relay finalist Alana Reid and national Under-20 100m champion Gary Card headline Jamaica's 43-member squad for the World Athletics Under-20 Championships from August 27-31 in Lima, Peru.

The girls team of 22 also includes defending sprint hurdles champion Kerrica Hill, Theianna-Lee Terrelonge, Shanoya Douglas, Sabrina Dockery, Abigail Campbell and Alliah Baker.

The boys team which has 21 members also includes Deandre Daley, Kemario Bygrave, Marcinho Rose and Jabari Matheson.

Two notable omissions from the squad are defending triple jump champion Jaydon Hibbert and US-based sprinter Skyler Franklin who has switched allegiance to Jamaica and competed at the National Junior Trials in June, where she won the 200 metres.

Hibbert announced after last week's triple jump final at the Olympics that he was ending his season to recover from injury.

It's understood that Franklyn is having difficulties securing her Jamaican passport.

David Riley will travel as technical leader for the coaching staff which also includes Michael Dyke, Corey Bennett, Neil Harrison, Jeremy Delliser, Michael Vassell and Megan Wilson Copeland with Keith Wellington as team leader. The team will depart on August 25.

Jamaica finished second on the medal table at the last staging of the World Under-20 Championships in Cali, Colombia in 2022 with 16 medals, the country's best ever medal haul at the championships.
