Former Calabar High School hurdler Andrew Riley stopped the clock in 13.27 secs to beat Olympic Bronze medallist Hansle Parchment 13.29 secs in the men's 110 metre high hurdles final, on the third and penultimate day of the Supreme Ventures Limited National Track and Field Championships at the National Stadium.
Riley was out of the blocks quickly and held the lead to the line ahead of the Olympic medallist. Richard Phillips was third in 13.72 seconds.
Natoya Goule won the women's 800 metre final in 2 mins 01.34 seconds ahead of Simoya Campbell, while Ricardo Cunningham won the men's equivalent in 1:48.09 seconds. Jowayne Hibbert was second.
The qualifiers for Sunday's women's 400 metres final are Novlene Williams Mills, Chris Ann Gordon, Christene Day, Shericka Jackson, Stephanie Ann McPherson, Anastacia Leroy, Bobby Gay Wilkens-Gooden and Shericka Williams.
The women's 200 metre semi-finals were won by Anneisha McLaughlin 23.34 secs, Audra Segree 23.42 secs and Samantha Henry-Robinson 23.04. The men's semi-final winners were Sheldon Mitchell 20.61 secs, Rasheed Dwyer 20.22 secs and Warren Weir 20.43 secs.
The field events are not to be left out. Natalie Grant won the women's Hammer Throw at 57.90 metres; Danielle Thomas won the women's shot put at 16.04 metres; Damar Forbes retained his men's long jump title with a leap of 8.10 metres; Christophe Bryan retained his men's high jump title at 2.19 metres; and Chad Wright also retained his title, the men's discus at 62.69 metres.
