Romelda Aiken, one of Jamaica's leading international netball players, has been forced out of the national team, due to a knee injury.
Netball Jamaica has confirmed that Aiken, who was set to join ANZ counterpart, Jhanielle Fowler, in leading the Jamaicans in England in the Tri-Series, is suffering from tendonitis in the knee and will sit out the series, which starts on January 17 at Wembley Stadium in London.
Marva Bernard, President of Netball Jamaica, has acknoeledged that Aiken's absence will be a big blow for the team.
“It is a terrible miss, the team only heard that last week and so the selectors have made some adjustments and I wish them well”, she commented.
The players are set to leave the island on Sunday. They will continue training in England, ahead of the series.
