Rusea’s High School are celebrating their capture of the 2017 ISSA Flow DaCosta Cup title following their 2-1 victory over favourites Clarendon College in Saturday’s final at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.
In a game of contrasting halves, Clarendon College dominated the first 45 minutes and were rewarded by the prolific striker Nique Daley who gave them the lead in the 36th minute. However, Rusea’s came out a different team in the second half and eventually drew level through Daniel Reid in the 55th minute.
Another inform player, Leonardo Fogarthy struck the decisive goal for Rusea’s in the 80th minute when he curled home a spectacular effort to give the Hanover-based team their 11th hold on the symbol of rural area schoolboy football supremacy.
Coach Vassell Reynolds who joined Rusea’s in March after leaving Wolmer’s Boys, was lifting his first ever DaCosta Cup crown.
