Russell and CWI at odds over availability for Windies representation

It appears tensions are brewing between Jamaican Andre Russell and Cricket West Indies (CWI) after the all-rounder broke his silence on recent comments made by head coach Phil Simmons and lead selector Desmond Haynes.

In an interview last week, both Haynes and Simmons commented on the unavailability of players such as Russell and Fabian Allen along with Sunil Narine and Evin Lewis.

However, while posting on social media that he will remain quiet on the issue, Russell was asked about the issue on Tuesday by former captain Darren Sammy in a pre-game interview for The Hundred.

Without providing much clarity, Russell appeared to have contracted the reasons given by both Simmons and Haynes for his unavailability.

The 34 year old did however state that he wanted to play at least another T20 World Cup.
