Following the West Indies’ aborted tour of India last year, some senior players have ended their association with the West Indies Players Association, WIPA, having felt they were not properly represented during the process.
In 2014 West Indies players curtailed their tour of India over a pay dispute with WIPA and the West Indies Cricket Board.
The players have expressed concerns that WIPA has not been as strident in protecting their rights due to the close ties between WIPA President Wavel Hinds and West Indies Cricket Board President Whycliffe “Dave” Cameron, who are both members of Kensington Cricket Club.
The new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) MOU is now performance based where major tournaments are concerned and some players are not in agreement.
The Bravo brothers, Dwayne and Darren along with Kieron Pollard, Suleiman Benn, Jerome Taylor, Marlon Samuels and newly appointed test captain Jason Holder are among the players to have resigned from WIPA.
