Newly-crowned Horse of the Year She's A Maneater may be sent to stud farm at the end of the 2018 racing season.
This was revealed to RJR Sports by her trainer, Wayne Dacosta on Tuesday. As expected, the super filly who ignited local racing with a series of electrifying performances last year, was announced as Horse of the Year for 2017 on Monday. Infact she took home as many as five awards, having also been voted champion 3 year old; champion middle distance performer; champion stayer and champion local bred overall.
She's A Maneater won nine races from as many starts in 2017 including five grade 1 races, which comprised the 1000 Guineas, Derby, St Leger, Superstakes and Diamond Mile for stakes earnings of $20.5 million.
17-time champion trainer Wayne Dacosta who conditions She's A Maneater disclosed that the bay filly by Natural Selection out of Awhofah could go to stud at the end of this year after discussions are held with her owner Winston Kong. Bigdaddykool and Choo Choo Blue were first and second runner-up respectively to the Horse of the Year.
In the meantime, trainer DaCosta says She's A Maneater's first race of the season will be over 7-and-half or 8 furlongs sometime during the first quarter of the year.
Among the other awards, apprentice Anthony Thomas was named most improved rider and Patrick "Wacky" Lynchmost improved trainer. RJR Sports understands that a Horse of the Year function is likely to be held at a date and venue to be decided.
