Sports journalist struck by car at motor rally

60 year old sports journalist Trevor Thorpe and a law enforcement officer  are in hospital after being struck by a car at  Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) Shakedown Stages Rally in St John.

Thorpe suffered severe head injuries in the accident and was set to undergo surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).

The incident occurred on Stage 10 of the rally when a Peugeot 306 GTI6 driven by Sean Fields/Darnley Rayside reportedly ventured off route.
