Sprinter Carrie Russell cops historic bobsleigh bronze medal

The pair of Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian and Carrie Russell created history on Monday night after capturing Jamaica's first medal on ice, finishing third at the North American Cup Bobsled Championship in Lake Placid in the United States.

The pair had the second fastest time in round one of two, of the two man push clocking an impressive 58.88 seconds before posting 58.99 seconds in their second attempt to finish with an overall time of 1:57.87 seconds.

The Jamaicans finished behind the United States who did 1:57.70 seconds and Canada 1:57. 81 seconds.

Russell, a sprinter who copped gold as part of Jamaica's women's 4x100m relay team at the 2013 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Moscow, Russia, has taken a break from track and field to do bobsleigh.
