Sunshine Girl Jodi-Ann Ward has been ruled out for the remainder of the Suncorp Super Netball League campaign in Australia with a season-ending injury.
The 30 year old defender suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear to her left knee in round 7 over the weekend while representing the Giants in their 75-66 loss to the West Coast Fever. The injury occured with just over 9 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. The team will announce an injury replacement player in due course.
Meanwhile, Sunshine Girls captain Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard scored 33 goals from 66 attempts in the Fever victory.
Elsewhere, in a game featuring three Sunshine Girls, Romelda Aiken-George had 47 goals from 52 attempts in helping defending champions the Adelaide Thunderbirds to a 66-59 win over the Melbourne Mavericks.
Latanya Wilson was also outstanding in the defensive circle for the T-Birds with 7 interceptions.
The other Sunshine Girl involved in that game, Shimona Jok, scored 34 goals from 35 attempts for the Mavericks.
