Sunshine Girls and Vitality Roses end in dramatic tie

The Sunshine Girls fought back to earn a dramatic tie with the England Roses, as the first game in the Vitality Horizon Netball Series ended 49-49 at the AO Arena in Manchester on Saturday.

The first quarter ended 13 all, before the roses established a six goal advantage going into the half-time interval at 26-20. On the resumption, the Jamaicans cut the deficit to 1 goal at 31-32 with 5 minutes to play. 

However, England held on to end the quarter 38-35. The fourth quarter was tense with the teams locked up at 45-45 with 5 minutes to play in the game.

Shanice Beckford then stepped up to score the final goal and level the game at 49-49. Jamaica's wing defence Latanya Wilson was named the Player of the Game.

The second match in the series will be played on Sunday starting at 9:00 am Jamaica time, before the teams travel to Jamaica for the final two games on November 25 and 26 and the National Indoor Sports Centre.
