Sunshine Girls looking to sweep England in Sunshine Series

The number three ranked position entering the 14th World Netball Championship 2011 in Singapore, will be up for grabs when Jamaica tackles England in the three test Sunshine Series at the end of April.

Jamaica’s Sunshine Girls, who trail England by 10 ranking points, will be looking for a 3-0 sweep to wipe that out when they meet in the Supreme Ventures Limited Sunshine Netball Series, inside the National Indoor Sports Centre.

The Jamaicans won the bronze medal at the last World Netball Championship but England move ahead in the ranking by gaining more points in subsequent test series.

Jill McIntosh, Technical Director of the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA), will be placing great emphasis on how the Sunshine Girls handle the pressure in the series as the final 12 for the World Championship will be named immediately after.

The players are also cognizant of the importance of this series, saying they are ready for all that it will bring.

Supreme Ventures Limited has pumped $1.7 million in the series, which was launched at the Acropolis Gaming Lounge in Barbican.

The JNA used the occasion to also welcome on board Jamaica Broilers as sponsor on their road to Singapore.

Jamaica Broilers joins team sponsor telecommunications company Digicel.

The Sunshine Series will be used to select Jamaica's final 12 for the World Championships.

The team captain and coaches will also be named after the series.

The English team is due to arrive in Jamaica next Thursday ahead of the series which will off on Tuesday April 26 at 7.30 p.m., with games two and three on the 28 and 30 respectively.
