Tallawahs beat Patriots to keep CPL playoff hopes alive

The Jamaica Tallawahs remain in the hunt for a playoff spot in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL)  after beating the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots by 59 runs at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.

Batting first the Tallawahs recovered from 65-5 to post 178-7. Shamar Springer top scored with 38, while Jamaican Fabian Allen made 33 not out from 18 balls. Ashmead Nedd and George Linde both ended with 2 wickets for the Patriots.

In their run chase, the Patriots never really got going and were eventually bowled out for 119.

Yanic Cariah led the fight for the Patriots with 65, but only three other batters managed to reach double figures including Will Smeed with 13. Mohammad Amir bagged 4-19, while Imad Wasim had 3-25.

With the win, the Tallawahs moved into the final playoff spot with 7 points, the same as the Barbados Royals heading into the final set of preliminary round games.

The Tallawahs will be back in action on Sunday morning when they face the St Lucia Kings and a victory could take them into the playoff.

The Royals will take on the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the late game on Sunday.
