Taylor impressive at GC Foster Classic

World Youth champion Christopher Taylor announced himself the best school-boy quarter-miler so far this season when he posted a season's best to win the event at the GC Foster Classic on Saturday. This was the 6th and final meet in the Digicel Grand Prix Series.

Taylor clocked 45.87 seconds to win the Under 16 boys event. Comparatively, Colin Sewell of St Jago posted 47.88 to win the Under 20 boys section.

Shannon Kalawon of Edwin Allen won the Under 20 girls section in a record 53.19 while Sanique Walker of Vere Technical posted a record 55.16 to win  the Under 16 section.

In other Grand Prix races on the day, the much vaunted Nigel Ellis of STETHS clocked 21.37 seconds to easily win the Under 20 boys 200 meters while Ashley Williams of Holmwood Technical took the Under 20 girls equivalent in 24.43.         

Kevona Davis of Edwin Allen won the Under 16 girls event in 24.63 seconds while Anthony Cox of St Jago took the Under 17 boys event in 23 seconds flat.

Calabar's Xavier Angus was the fastest  in the 100 meters , winning the Under 20 event in 10.79 seconds.

Teammate Tyreke Wilson won the Under 16 section in 11.34 seconds while Kimone Shaw of St Jago took the Under 16 girls’ equivalent in 12.33 seconds.

Edwin Allen's Patrice Moody won the Under 20 girls event in 12.17 seconds.

Shavon Parkes of Bellefield was among the records in the 800 meters, clocking 1 minute, 52.73 to win the Under 20 boys section. 

Junelle Bromfield of STETHS took the Under 20 girls equivalent in 2 minutes, 09.95 seconds. Keenan Lawrence 1 minute, 56.66 and Camone Donald 2:10.63, won the Under 17 boys and girls equivalents.

In the field, Todea-Kay Willis won the women's long jump with a creditable 6.25 meters while UWI teammate and national representative Federick Dacres threw 18.97 meters to win the men's shot put.
