Three Jamaicans in Windies T20 squad

All-rounder Andre Russell is among three Jamaicans named in the West Indies T20 squad to play Australia in a five match series starting on Sunday at Sabina Park.

As reported by Radio Jamaica Sports on Tuesday, the 37 year old Russell will call time on his international career after suiting up for the Windies in his final two internationals on home soil on July 20 and 22. Former captain Rovman Powell and Brandon King are the other Jamaicans in the 16-man squad.

The squad which features the core group of players who secured a recent series win against Ireland, also sees the inclusion of newcomers Jewel Andrew and Jediah Blades who have earned their maiden T20 call-ups.

The full squad reads: Captain Shai Hope, Jewel Andrew, Jediah Blades, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Evin Lewis, Gudakesh Motie, Rovman Powell, Andre Russell, Sherfane Rutherford and Romario Shepherd.

The final three games in the series will be played at Warner Park in St Kitts on July 25, 26 and 28.
