Tomlinson and Watson suffer losses at Latin American singles qualification

Jamaica's Simon Tomlinson and Kane Watson suffered first and second round losses respectively in singles action of the 2021 Latin American singles and mixed doubles qualification in Rosario, Argentina on Tuesday.

Tomlinson, the nation's number one ranked player, went down 4-1 to Ecuador's Alberto Mino in the round of 16.

After winning the first set 12-10, Tomlinson lost the next four sets 8-11, 5-11, 3-11, 5-11 to crash out of the competition.

Tomlinson had won his opening encounter earlier in the day, defeating Venezuela's Cecilio Correa 4-3. Watson on the other hand, was beaten in the first round by Cuba's Jorge Santos after going down 4-0.

Watson lost 3-11, 2-11, 7-11, 6-11. The pair will be in action again on Thursday.
