Trainer Anthony ‘Baba’ Nunes highlighted Saturday's 10 race card at Caymanas Park with a three timer including the upset winner of the main feature among the four trophy races.
Nunes' 3 year old bay filly ‘Littlemissemmy’ with claiming apprentice Dane Dawkins, displayed speed throughout to capture the ‘Jamaica Racehorse Trainers Association Trophy’ for native bred 3 year olds over 6 furlongs and in the process, created the biggest upset on the programme at odds of 22-1.
The win closed a double for Dawkins while Nunes also had ‘Bigdaddykool” and ‘Twighlight Rocket’ in the winner's enclosure.
The other trophy races saw ‘Bubbling Kitten’ with Wesley Henry riding for Phillip Feanny, landing the ‘Dye Job Sprint’ and ‘Original Train’ with Dane Nelson for Harry Parsard, taking the ‘Seymour Foggy Mullings Memorial Trophy’.
Outgoing champion jockey Dane Nelson also had a double as well as trainer Harry Parsard. Champion jockey designate Shane Ellis rode one winner to move his tally for the season to 79, eight clear of Robert Halledeen who went winless.
Racing continues on Sunday with a 9 race card, the final Sunday programme on the 2015 calendar.
