Tridents secure win over Hawksbills in CPL

Marlon Samuels' debut as Antigua Hawksbills captain ended in a 12 run loss to the Barbados Tridents in the latest match of the Caribbean premier league twenty20 tournament at Kensington Oval last night.  

Electing to bat the tridents put together a workman like performance to score 146-8 from their allotted overs.   Shoaib malik 33,and Jonathan Carter 31 made most runs against Samuels 2-17 and fellow Jamaican Sheldon Cotterel 2-36.  

Set 147 to win, the hawksbills struggled throughout  and were restricted to 134-8. Johnson Charles got a top-score of 44 while Samuels made 23 from 31.

Ashley Nurse 4-28, Rayad Emrit 2-25, and man of the match Shakib Al Hasan 1-16.  It was a second straight victory for the Barbados Tridents who will have another home game against Trinidad and Tobago red steel on Saturday.
