Usain bolts to world 100m title in Moscow

Despite running in thunder and heavy rain, Usain "lightning" Bolt still sparkled to yet another world title as Jamaica got off the mark on day two of the 14th

IAAF World Athletics Championships with a gold and bronze in the men's 100 meters.

Bolt sped to a season's best 9.77 seconds to emphatically reclaim the world 100 meter title ahead of American Justin Gatlin 9.85 and compatriot Nesta Carter 9.95                 

It was 1-3-4-5 for Jamaica as Kemar Bailey-Cole 9.95 and Nickel Ashmeade 9.98 ended 4th and 5th.

With the win bolt moved closer to equalling American Carl Lewis' record of eight world championship gold medals.              

“After the semi finals, I didn’t feel in the shape I should have been. My legs didn’t feel like they were firing, I felt kinda sore, i don’t know what happen. After the semis I normally could tell whether or not I will be running a fast time in the final based on how I feel. I just came out here to do my best and do what I had to do. I’m grateful for the win”, said Bolt.

Bolt along with Ashmeade and olympic bronze medallist Warren Weir next their attentions to the 200 meter heats starting on Friday.

Jamaica will also represented in the final of the women's 400 meter final on Monday after Novlene Williams-Mills and Stephanie Mcpherson made progress from the semi-finals today.

Williams-Mills 50.34 and Mcpherson 49.99 both finished 3rd in their  respective semi-finals to advance. 

The other Jamaican in the event Patricia Hall failed to advance from her semi-final after finishing 8th in 52.62.
