Organizers of the Camperdown Classic have revealed that they considered cancelling the 2026 staging of the meet which is set for February 14.
However, chairperson for the organizing committee, Camille Allen-Walters explained that different chapters of their past students’ association came to the rescue.
There will also be a venue change for this year's staging of the meet, which has moved from the National Stadium to the Ashenheim Stadium at Jamaica College.
Meanwhile, meet co-ordinator Courtney Brooks explained that the meet will not only serve as qualifier for the ISSA Boys and Girls Championships, but will have something in store for the senior athlete as well. Former outstanding Manning Cup goalkeeper Peter Gordon will be the honouree at this year's meet.
