St Andrew Technical High and title holders Jamaica College started the quarter-final round of the ISSA Manning Cup with wins over St Cathrine High and Mona High respectively at the Stadium East Field on Friday.
The Bumper Hall-based STATHS ran out 4-1 winners in the curtain raiser with their talisman Omar Laing leading the way with a hattrick.
Many-time champions Jamaica College prevailed 2-0 in a heated battle against neighbours Mona High in the other Group 1 quarter-final contest.
The competition continues on Saturday with Group 2 action as Excelsior take on Kingston Technical at 1:00 pm before Kingston College oppose Charlie Smith at 3:00 pm.
Meanwhile, quarter-final round action in the DaCosta Cup begins on Saturday with eight matches at four venues.
