Gov't looking to add more ganja growers in Alternative Development Programme

Floyd Green, Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, has said emphasis will be placed on increasing the number of community groups of traditional growers participating in the Alternative Development Programme.

The programme aims to prevent and eliminate the illicit cultivation of ganja and channel the process through legal streams.

Mr. Green said groups in St. Ann, Kingston and south west St. Elizabeth have shown an interest in the programme.

Meanwhile, he said 44 pounds of ganja have been sold from the cannabis pilot project in Accompong in St. Elizabeth into the medicinal marijuana industry.
