JMEA wants more Government support

Executive Director of the Jamaica Manufacturers & Exporters Association Kamesha Turner Blake says the government needs to help members of the manufacturing sector with accessible and affordable factory and warehouse space in order to facilitate their expansion programmes.

This, she says, will help them take advantage of the opportunities created by the tariffs on imported raw materials and intermediate inputs.

Jamaica imports 90 per cent of its intermediate inputs and raw materials annually.

This bill, which accounted for US$1.88 billion during the first 11 months of 2024, is the country highest, followed by the fuel and food import bills.
