Mayberry Investments has provided more details of the cyberattack which has affected the company.
In a release Friday, the investment firm says through its cyber experts, it now has full access to all of its data, some of which was compromised in this Ransomware attack.
Ransomware is a type of cyberattack that prevents a system's owner or user from accessing their system or data on the system.
It is accompanied by demands for a payment of money or a ransom of exorbitant sums in exchange for access.
Mayberry said a ransom has not been paid.
It said all clients who are or are likely to have been affected were notified, and clients have been able to conduct their business in a normal manner.
Mayberry added that the Jamaica Constabulary Force has been informed of the attack, and the company's legal team is on the matter.
Under the new Data Protection regulations, it is illegal to obtain or disclose, deal in, with, or make public any data that contains personal data without consent.
Any person who sells, screen-grabs, receives, stores, views, or shares all or any portion of any of data that contains personal information without consent is likely to commit an offence.
The offence(s) may attract a fine of up to $5 million or more and imprisonment of up to ten years.
