US stocks closed mixed on Monday, with those listed on the S&P 500 and the 30-share Dow Jones Industrial climbing marginally higher, while those listed on the technology driven Nasdaq such as Meta, Apple, Amazon and Microsoft dipped.
European markets traded higher, however, as investors digested a variety of first quarter corporate earnings reports.
Meanwhile, Asia Pacific markets traded mixed as investors assessed China's promises to support its domestic industries as well as the latest developments in the raging trade war between that country and the USA.
