Plans are still on track for the construction of a children's hospital in western Jamaica.
That's the word from Health Minister Dr. Fenton Ferguson.
Dr. Ferguson says epidemiological studies have been completed and the results justify the establishment of the facility in St. James.
The hospital will cater to the needs of children and adolescents.
According to the Health Minister, land has been identified and the preliminary design as well as costing of the project finalised.
The facility is to be constructed on the grounds of the Cornwall Regional Hospital.
Dr. Ferguson has indicated that the institution will become a National Centre of Excellence and an example of best practice for Public Private Partnerships.
Plans for the construction were announced by Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller who highlighted the need for a Child and Adolescent Hospital in western Jamaica.
