Committee report on Teaching Council Bill unlikely to be available before next year

The Joint Select Committee of parliament examining the Jamaica Teaching Council Bill is unlikely to present its report before the new year.

The Committee has been examining the bill since February this year.

It will establish the Council as the lone body to license teachers.

Minister of Education and Youth Fayval Williams has conceded that the process has been slow going but explained that this was because of the number of concerns raised by stakeholders.
