Dionne Jackson Miller of RJR Communications Group was decclared Journalist of the Year, 2013, at the annual Press Association of Jamaica (PAJ) awards ceremony in Kingston on Friday night.
Rashawn Thompson of Nationwide News Network is the Young Journalist of the Year.
The Journalist of the Year Award has now been won by the RJR Group for the fifth time in the last six years, with the sequence broken only by Arthur Hall, of The Gleaner, in 2009.
Jackson Miller, host of Radio Jamaica's Beyond the Headlines and Television Jamaica's All Angles, also won the Digicel award for the use of technology in journalism and was part of the team which won the Best Human Interest Story - television category - for the very topical bleaching feature.
Overall, the RJR Communications Group walked away with eight awards. Other awards, including the Unicef Media Award which went to Marilyn Facey Ford, the NHT award, won by Kirk Wright, and the Theodore Sealy Award won by Archibald Gordon. Ivan Shaw won the Videography award for his work on the All Angles feature on the bleaching phenomenon and Kayon Raynor was declared Sports Journalist of the Year - electronic media category.
The Gleaner Company won 12 awards, followed by RJR Group with eight and the Observer, Nationwide News Network, and Buzz Magazine each winning two awards.
