Three Jamaicans are in custody in connection with the seizure of approximately 2,000 lbs of cocaine in the country's territorial waters Monday morning.
The cocaine is valued at J$1.1 billion.
The Jamaica Defence Force reported that about 4:15, members of the Maritime, Air & Cyber Command, intercepted a vessel transporting nineteen large and carefully prepared bales of cocaine.
The three people aboard the vessel were detained.
According to the the JDF, the cocaine is believed to have been transported from South America.
