After days of high-level talks, CARICOM leaders have signalled a stronger commitment to help Haiti stabilise and rebuild.
It comes as gang violence and political instability continue to rattle the French-speaking CARICOM country.
Haiti remains in a fragile state with tensions rising again this week, as gangsters set fire to the popular Oloffson Hotel.
CARICOM Chairman and Jamaica's Prime Minister, Dr. Andrew Holness, says regional leaders have agreed to increase support.
"We had a very detailed discussion with Mr. Saint-Cyr of the Haitian Transitional Presidential Council, who apprised us of the work of that Council towards strengthening security, holding a referendum on the reform of the Constitution and holding elections in November," Dr. Holness disclosed.
As regional leaders pledged to step in, Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, has urged the United States to assist.
"This one is right on America's doorstep. I'm pleading publicly with them. Please get involved in this thing to help us and to help most of all the Haitians to get back some sense of stability and security," he appealed.
