The non-payment of salaries to a number of teachers has been cited as one of the reasons for the lukewarm response to this year's National Summer School programme.
President of the Jamaica Association of Principals of Secondary Schools Linvern Wright has also pointed to a mixture of fatigue in both students and teachers.
Mr Wright told Radio Jamaica News that, based on feedback he has received, there is lingering disgruntlement about issues from last year.
The Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA) last week expressed disappointment that the Education Ministry was proceeding with the four-week summer school programme.
The JTA had been urging that the lessons to be suspended to allow teachers to rest.
Mr. Wright noted that, despite interventions on their behalf, some teachers have still not been paid for participating in last year's National Summer School Programme.
