Man charged in connection with ganja bust in Portland

A man has been charged in connection with last Friday's drug bust in Portland.
 
The police seized 1,600 pounds of ganja with a street value of almost $7 million was seized during a raid in Manchioneal.
 
Detectives have charged 38 year old Rayon Thomas, a fisherman of the Wey Bridge Housing Scheme in Manchioneal.
 
The charges include possession of, dealing in, and using premises for the storage of ganja and taking steps preparatory to export ganja.
 
It was reported that the police found the compressed ganja during a raid at a house at the Wey Bridge Housing Scheme. 
 
Mr. Thomas, who was inside the house, was taken into custody.
 
He is to appear in the Portland Parish Court on Tuesday.
