Media now permitted to record court proceedings, but not for broadcast

The media will now be allowed to record court proceedings for the verification of their notes, but not for broadcast.

This was outlined in a media protocol, which was launched Thursday by the judiciary.

Among other things, the protocol establishes the office of the media liaison officer, which will facilitate communication between the courts and members of the media.

Tricia Cameron-Anglin, acting director of the Court Administration Division, said the judiciary has recognised the need for greater engagement with the press.
