More charges for UWI student implicated in torture case

Matthew Hyde, the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona student accused of the alleged abduction and torture of a female student, has been hit with three additional charges.
 
Hyde has now been charged with false imprisonment, use of malicious communication and assault occasioning bodily harm.
 
He was previously charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
 
Hyde, 20, was arrested after he allegedly locked the 19-year-old student in his room for three days and tortured her with a clothing iron. 
 
He was remanded until March 9 when he appeared before the St. Andrew Parish Court today.
