The Government is promising that an announcement will be made today (Tuesday) on preliminary findings regarding the virus which has caused an increase in respiratory illnesses and flu like symptoms in Jamaica.
Health authorities have reported a spike in the number of people turning up at health facilities seeking treatment for flu like symptoms and upper respiratory illnesses.
Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton told Radio Jamaica News that samples were sent to the public health lab for genome sequencing.
He said some of the illnesses may be linked to COVID-19 while a type of flu is responsible for other cases.
He promised that further details will be revealed by the Ministry of Health & Wellness.
