Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the government is actively working to have some students return to the classroom, even while the country continues to see a rise in Covid-19 cases.
The Prime Minister says he is very concerned about the challenges some students are facing accessing online learning and solutions must be found.
He disclosed that the ministry of education has been engaged in the surveillance of schools which can meet the criteria for the safe return of students.
The schools should be in areas where the number of coronavirus cases are low and contained, students will not necessarily use public transportation, and the schools should be underpopulated.
Holness who was speaking on Thursday at a Jamaica Labour Party scholarship Awards function also agreed that remedial programmes will have to be implemented for students who have been left behind during this period.
