Soldier among 10 persons charged in relation to curfew breach

A Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) soldier was among ten persons charged under the Disaster Risk Management Act in the eastern Jamaica parish of St. Thomas on the weekend.

A firearm and ammunitions were also recovered during the operation at an illegal party.

According to police reports, about 9:45pm Friday, the police responded to a report of an illegal party in progress in Norris, Yallahs. They reportedly found close to a hundred people gathered at the dance venue.

On the arrival of the police, the patrons attempted to flee, but the soldier - 25-year old Ramario Mills - who was identified as the promoter of the event, and nine patrons were apprehended.

All were charged for breaches of the Disaster Risk Management Act and the Noise Abatement act. 

A search of the area was conducted and a revolver with four live rounds was recovered from the root of a tree.

No one was charged in relation to the seizure.
