A male student of William Knibb Memorial High School in Trelawny was stabbed to death by a schoolmate at the institution today (Monday).
He has been identified as 16-year-old Khamal Hall.
Another male student, who is his alleged attacker, is in custody.
It's reported that shortly after 11 o'clock, Khamal and his schoolmate had a dispute over a ring.
Khamal was stabbed with a knife and later pronounced dead at Falmouth Hospital.
Acting Assistant Commissioner Charmaine Shand, head of the Community Safety and Security Branch, told Radio Jamaica News that the alleged attacker was held by the Falmouth Police.
She said grief counselling will be provided to the William Knibb school community on Tuesday.
William Knibb Memorial High is one of the institutions on the Jamaica Constabulary Force's safe school programme.
