Myrtha Désulmé, founder and President of the Haiti-Jamaica Society, has been appointed Haiti's Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS).
Ms Désulmé presented her credentials to OAS Secretary General Luis Almagro at a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
She reaffirmed Haiti's commitment to democracy, human rights, security, and sustainable development and highlighted the role of the OAS in fostering hemispheric unity and finding solutions to regional crises.
In response, Secretary General Almagro pledged the OAS's full support for Haiti, stating that the organization is committed to assisting with policies aimed at restoring peace, strengthening security, and upholding democratic principles.
He emphasised that the OAS and its member countries stand ready to enhance their support for Haiti during this challenging period.
