Popular dancehall selector Oneil Thomas, known to fans as 'Foota Hype' is now in the custody of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
He is scheduled for a hearing with an immigration judge on Monday.
Jamaica's ambassador to the United States, Audrey Marks, told The Star newspaper that Thomas was detained on Saturday, on arrival at Port Everglades Seaport aboard the Independence of the Seas, from Falmouth, Jamaica.
Foota Hype was detained for further review of his travel documents and admissibility status.
The ICE website states that there are a number of reasons for which someone can be detained, including arriving at the border without a visa prior to formally applying for asylum or refugee status; an outstanding removal order on record, or any other crime.
