Trey Songz releases song in honour of Black Lives Matter protests

R&B singer Trey Songz on Friday released a new single titled "2020 Riots: How Many Times" in honour of the Black Lives Matter protests currently erupting across the United States.

The fiery song finds the singer channeling his righteous anger over the senseless killings of Black men and women including the recent deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery into a protest anthem for the times.

The track's gospel choir-backed chorus asks: "How many mothers have to cry?/ How many brothers gotta die?/ How many more marches?/ How many more signs?/ How many more lives?/ How many more times?"

Songz said the sleepless nights and hurt he has experienced over recent racial killings inspired him to record the single, that he hopes touches the soul and speaks to what the world is feeling right now.
