The Jamaican dollar regained more strength to the US currency during trading yesterday - as a result, it is now costing an average $128.84 cents for the American currency.
The comes as the Bank of Jamaica (BOJ), will today begin a pilot of new foreign exchange trading regime - it will be fully rolled out on July 26.
The new mechanism is a system in which the central bank will start auctioning foreign exchange to authorised dealers.
The system which has been dubbed B-FXITT (BOJ Foreign Exchange Intervention and Trading Tool) will see the central bank announcing up to four weeks ahead, the quantity of foreign exchange it intends to sell to the market.
BOJ Governor Brian Wynter says the new system will not affect the freedom with which members of the public purchase or sell foreign exchange.
