Sharon Marley, one of the eldest daughters of late reggae icon Bob Marley and a former member of the Ziggy Marley led Melody Makers, was arrested and charged over the weekend with cruelty to a child.
According to reports, Ms. Marley abused a 6-year old boy who is autistic, at a Learning Centre that she runs on Lady Musgrave Road, St. Andrew.
It is alleged that she spanked the 6-year old boy last Friday after an incident at the Centre, resulting in visible body injuries.
Ms. Marley reportedly held onto the child and took him inside a room where the child was heard screaming.
Later when he emerged, the child was crying, and reportedly bore bruises and other marks.
The mother of the child subsequently filed a report with the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse.
Ms Marley reportedly surrendered to the police Friday afternoon and was subsequently charged.
She was later released on $30,000 station bail and is to appear in court on Tuesday.
Sharon Marley is the second daughter of the late reggae icon to find herself in legal troubles.
Last month, Makeda Marley who is Bob Marley's youngest daughter, plead guilty to illegal possession of marijuana charges.
This followed a 2008 incident where cops were called in to her Philadelphia home for an alleged domestic dispute.
