New version of patois bible to go on sale shortly

A new version of the Bible “Di Jamiekan Nyuu Testiment” will shortly be on sale in bookstores.

The Jamaican patois version was recently launched at the Jamaican High Commission in the United Kingdom.

Di Jamiekan Nyuu Testiment includes many of the New Testament’s most well known stories which details the  life of “ Jesus” and the “Lord’s Prayer” in Jamaican patois, with English translations available beside each verse.

The book was approved in a partnership between The Bible Society of the West Indies and the United Kingdom’s Bible Society. It reflects a 20-year collaboration between translators from the Bible Society of the West Indies, the Department of Linguistics at the University of the West Indies (UWI) and highly acclaimed theological institutions in the island.

It will be available for download on iTunes on October 28 and will be in bookstores on November 12 in the United Kingdom, at a cost of £12.99.
