Sparkle marks Houston's return to the big screen after a 16-year hiatus.
Sparkle is a remake of the 1976 movie of the same name. Inspired by the story of Diana Ross and The Supremes, the movie focuses on three teenage sisters who form a girl group.
In the movie, Whitney plays the mother of the sisters looking for fame.

The singer died on February 11 at age 48 in a Beverly Hills hotel room
