The National Works Agency (NWA) says motorists will soon experience better driving conditions as the patching of major roads is to be expanded across the island.
The GO Road Rehabilitation Programme started in Kingston and St. Andrew last month, targeting priority roads that require immediate repair.
"There is a patching programme that is about to take off island-wide because we have done some work in Kingston and St. Andrew. And this we expect will see some of the many major roads across the country being targeted. We are well aware of some of the issues that persons have been having using corridors around the country. And this work that we are going to be doing, the first tranche valued at $1 billion, we are going to be using same to address some of those concerns coming out of the passage of Hurricane Melissa," said NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw.
The government recently allocated J$100 million under the GO Road Rehabilitation Programme for works on critical sections of the roadway linking Anchovy, St. James, to Shettlewood, Hanover.
